Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 November 2026
LearnFluently is an app for practising spoken English. This policy explains what the app collects, why, where it goes and how to delete it. LearnFluently is operated by [COMPANY NAME] ("we").
No sign-in, no ads, no tracking
You do not create an account. The first time the app needs our server it creates an anonymous device account, identified only by a random code stored on your phone. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number or location. There are no ads, no advertising or analytics trackers, and we never sell your data.
Your voice stays on your phone
When you hold the microphone, the recording is turned into text on your phone. The audio itself is not uploaded or stored by us; it is kept in memory only while you practise and is gone when you close the app. The app needs microphone permission for this.
What we store on our server
To keep your progress safe and to improve the lessons, the app saves these to our server:
- your first language and the days and times you chose for classes;
- which courses you started, which lessons you finished, minutes practised and the step you were last on;
- the text of what you said in lessons (as transcribed on your phone), your self-ratings and the results of the sound check;
- lesson ratings and any comments you choose to write;
- a log of requests to our AI service (time, purpose, speed, success), used to limit use and keep it working.
Our team uses this to see how lessons are going (for example, where learners stop) and to improve the course. It is not shared with anyone else except the service providers below.
AI features
Some replies, tips and translations are written by an AI model. For those, the text of your answer and the lesson it belongs to are sent from our server to our AI provider, Ollama, which processes it to produce the reply. We do not send your device code or anything that identifies you.
Service providers
- DigitalOcean (servers in London, United Kingdom) runs our server and database.
- Ollama runs the AI model for replies, tips and translations.
- Backblaze hosts the recorded lesson audio the app plays. Downloading it shares only your IP address, as any web request does.
- Expo delivers app updates.
On your phone
Your progress is also kept on your phone so lessons work offline. Class reminders are scheduled on your phone; if you allow notifications, no notification data is sent to us.
Deleting your data
In the app, open Courses and tap Delete my data. This permanently deletes your device account and everything listed above from our server, and everything the app stored on your phone. You can also ask us to delete it by writing to [CONTACT EMAIL]; include the date you started using the app so we can find it. Otherwise we keep your data until you delete it.
Children
LearnFluently is meant for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete the data.
Security
Data travels between the app and our server encrypted (HTTPS). Access to the server and to learner data is limited to our team.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we will update the date above. Questions or requests: [CONTACT EMAIL].
